Business | Brandon Cuevas CEO of UnitedHealthcare California

Since late 2012, Brandon Cuevas has been leading UnitedHealthcare’s commercial business, which offers California employers and their employees health benefit plans and wellness programs that help people live healthier lives. UnitedHealthcare serves more than 2.4 million plan participants across the Golden State and employs more than 10,000 people, making it one of California’s largest health and well-being companies.

Previously, Cuevas served as West Region CFO of UnitedHealthcare’s Employer & Individual business, helping drive the company’s vision and strategic goals across the 13-state region.  Cuevas’ experience in health care spans nearly two decades with previous roles that included serving as vice president of finance at PacifiCare Health Systems. He began his professional career in public accounting at Arthur Anderson Worldwide LLC, where he served health care and financial services clients.

Cuevas, born and raised in Southern California, studied at Barclay College in Haviland, Kan., earning a bachelor of arts in business administration and theology, and later at Friends University in Wichita, Kan., where he earned a bachelor of business administration in accounting.
