We are pleased to announce that Stephanie Lucero, Emmy Award-winning journalist and Investigative Producer for NBC Responds/Telemundo Responde, the NBC’s Consumer Investigative Unit has been selected as a Hispanic Lifestyle 2023 Latina of Influence. Ms. Lucero will be recognized for her leadership in our community during Hispanic Lifestyle’s Connecting Latinas of Influence – Dallas/Fort Worth event on October 11, 2023.

Stephanie Lucero is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who has covered news events in four television markets: Reno, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Dallas/Fort Worth. After 33 years as a television reporter, Stephanie is now “behind the scenes.”

Currently Stephanie is an Investigative Producer for NBC Responds/Telemundo Responde, the NBC’s Consumer Investigative Unit. She currently works remotely, with the NBC stations in the San Francisco Bay area, KNTV and Chicago, WMAQ NBC 5, investigating a wide variety of consumer issues.

Stephanie received an Emmy from the National Television Academy – Lone Star Chapter – for her work in documenting the travels of undocumented immigrants who died and survived in the back of a sweltering 18-wheeler in 2003. Stephanie and her photojournalists followed the immigrants from the moments their truck was opened, through their medical treatment for severe burns and on to their temporary homes in Chicago.

Stephanie has received accolades from numerous organizations for her expertise in covering Hispanic issues, the criminal justice system, immigration, economic news and healthcare.

The big stories Stephanie covered include Ebola in Dallas in 2014, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Branch Davidian standoff in Waco in 1993. She has also covered numerous natural disasters such as an avalanche near Carson City, Nevada, flooding in Las Vegas, the earthquake in San Francisco in 1989 and she and her team of photojournalists worked extensively covering Hurricane Katrina for one year leading up to the one-year anniversary of the hurricane.

Stephanie is currently engaged and active as a member of the DFW Hispanic 100, Hispanic Communicators DFW (a chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists) and the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas. She is also a member of the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Pan American Golf Association and she is a graduate of the Leadership Dallas Class of 2017.

Stephanie is a native of Los Angeles and mother of twin sons, Craig and Thomas Casler, who recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
