Erika Tejeda EdD | 2023 Latina of Influence
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Erika Tejeda principal of Liberty High School in the Perris Union High School District, has been selected as a Hispanic Lifestyle 2023 Latina of Influence. Dr.. Tejeda will be recognized for her leadership in our community during Hispanic Lifestyle’s Latina Conference 2023 to be held on November 9, 2023 at Wilson Creek Winery, Temecula, California.
Dr. Erika Tejeda is a dynamic force that has carved out a unique path in education. She is currently the founding principal of Liberty High School in the Perris Union High School District and has shown an unwavering commitment to creating and maintaining a brighter future for every student.
At Liberty High School, Dr. Tejeda excels at the duties and responsibilities of a high school principal but has done so much more. She championed the creation of a cutting-edge and highly relevant Pathway School that ensures all students, without exception, are college and or career-ready. The dynamic learning environment she has cultivated not only empowers students but also provides a platform for educators to thrive.
Dr. Tejeda’s remarkable journey began way before she took over the role of the founding principal at LHS. A beacon of inspiration for all PUHSD students, Dr. Tejeda’s journey is rooted in her deep commitment to her community. A proud graduate of Perris High School, she recognized the profound impact education could have on young lives. Motivated by the desire to be the guiding light she wished she had during her own high school days, Dr. Tejeda embarked on a mission to empower and uplift the next generation.
As a trailblazer and a first-generation Chicana, Dr. Tejeda defied odds, earning her doctorate in Organizational Leadership from California State University San Bernardino. As the youngest of five siblings and the sole daughter, she carries the legacy of her family with grace and determination. Driven by a desire to honor her parents and ancestors, she continues to excel, living out their dreams with every accomplishment.
Recently, Dr. Tejeda’s outstanding contributions were celebrated on a larger stage. Her alma mater, CSUSB, recognized her as a Distinguished Alumna, a testament to her enduring impact on the educational landscape. Furthermore, the Association of California School Administrators bestowed upon her the prestigious title of Secondary Principal of the Year, recognizing her unparalleled leadership and vision.
Dr. Tejeda’s story is one of resilience, inspiration, and unwavering dedication. She continues to shape the future, one student at a time, proving that with determination and vision, extraordinary transformations are possible.
