Cueva’s first film, “In the Name of Freedom,” acquires Global Distribution and premieres nationwide on AT&T U-Verse & Direct TV’s Shorts HD Channel on Memorial Day.

In the Name of Freedom

Isabel Cueva (CEO and Founder of Cave Entertainment) which won several awards and nominations for her first short film, “In the Name of Freedom,” has just announced she will produce her first feature film this fall with Green Flag Entertainment and Odd Sock Films. Cueva, is a mega-talented, actress-producer-director. She will be taking the helm on “The Return to Dark Mesa,” which will be her feature film “producing debut” with producing partner Douglas Tait. The project was introduced to her, after writer/director Dennis Doornbos (CEO of Green Flag Ent.) was impressed by her talents in “In the Name of Freedom” and offered her to play the lead role “Rachel Willis”. Producer Jill Knox-Gosse (CEO of Odd Sock Films) who met Cueva while promoting her film at Sundance, joined the producing team. “The Return to Dark Mesa” is in pre-production and is scheduled to begin principal photography in the fall 2012.

Cueva’s award-winning short, “In the Name of Freedom,” is a tough, gritty, uncensored war film about peace. The story follows a female American soldier, Lisa Meyers (Cueva) who is captured in Iraq but saved by one of her captors. Cueva wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film which garnered a Best Short Film Cine Golden Eagle Award, a Best Short Film from the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, an Imagen Award Nomination, several Best Actress Nominations, a Best Writer Award at the Int’l TV Fest in Hollywood and was an invited speaker for the Directors Panel at the Los Angeles International Latino International Film Festival. Distributor Shorts International, which distributes the Academy shorts, spotted the film at the San Diego Latino International Film Festival and immediately offered Cueva a Global Distribution deal. Fittingly, the film will have it’s television premiere this Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th at 8:00PM PT/11pmEST in a program of short films called “In the War Zone” on the Shorts HD Channel. Shorts HD is featured on AT&T U-Verse channel 1789 and Direct TV channel 568. The film was produced with the help of Cueva’s friends and family on an astoundingly low micro budget of $7000. Cueva is in production directing “Linda Jones”, a romantic period piece that follows the romance of a 1940’s Latino film director.

Cueva is also busy starring in several feature films. But the stunning Mexican beauty is excited that she is playing strong multi-dimensional female characters in these “female driven” feature films. Cueva just wrapped a lead role opposite Morgan Fairchild in “American Horror House,” for the SyFy channel produced by Active Entertainment. The film was directed by Darin Scott (Dark House, The Brothers). Next month she will star in “Devil’s Gate” a thriller feature directed by JJ Rogers. It will be produced by The Film Group Inc. and XVIII LLC. Later this summer she will be starring in “Father Eddie,” a comedy directed by Chris Cashman. Frazzled Man Productions is producing.
