Program #5126 – California Legislation

Hispanic Lifestyle traveled to Sacramento California’s state Capitol to spend the day with legislators, policy makers and Latino professionals looking to voice their concerns with elected officials.

After a very long and insightful day, we caught up with Mr. Joel Ayala, president and CEO of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce who touched on the highlights of the organizations annual legislative day.

The Chamber produces many programs and events throughout the year for their membership. We asked Joel if would share details about the organizations upcoming convention to be held in San Diego, August 19-22, 2009

The Chairman of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce is Mr. Ken Macias founder of one of the leading accounting firms in the State. Mr. Macias spoke about the outlook for Latino businesses in California.

Representing the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was Mr. Steve Gándola, their President and CEO. Mr. Gándola spoke about the focus of the local chambers efforts.

While in the Capitol city Hispanic Lifestyle took the opportunity to speak with retired NBA star and Mayor of Sacramento Kevin Johnson about the state of city.

The highest ranking Latina elected official in the state of California is Lori Saldaña. Elected to represent the states 76th Assembly district located in San Diego, Assemblymember Saldaña spoke about her position and commitment to public service.
