The Latina History Day conference, for which Latina History Day in California was created, draws approximately 1000 women to celebrate the historic and current achievements of Latinas, while embracing the Latina culture. Attendees participate in forums on career advancement, current community issues and financial empowerment. HOPE has been instrumental in securing local, county, state and congressional officials to declare the second Friday in March (during Women’s History Month) as Latina History Day. Latina History Day consistently garners the support of the Mayor of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles City Council.

The Latina Action Day Sacramento Conference convenes 600 Latina leaders from all regions of California in Sacramento for an annual public policy issues conference. This one day conference is designed to facilitate dialogue between corporate and community Latina leaders and elected officials on public policies affecting Latinas in California. Through townhalls, public hearings, and workshops, HOPE presents up to date information, analysis, and access to decision makers on critical issues such as access to healthcare, higher education, and the California State budget.

The HOPE Leadership Institute (HLI) is the first and only statewide leadership program specifically designed for professional Latinas in California. The goal is to train Latinas in vital leadership and advocacy skills, enabling them to create fundamental change within their local neighborhoods and across California. The HLI spans ten months, January through October, and includes five 3-4 day training sessions. Training sessions are intense, full day, and inclusive of academic seminars, personal assessments, group work, group presentations, lobbying and advocacy, field trips, networking receptions, and conference attendance. In between sessions, participants are assigned both individual and group research projects.

The Youth Leadership through Literacy Program (YLTLP) is a statewide development program designed to prepare low-income, high school age Latinas for a self-sufficient future that will allow for economic and political parity through a college education. The objectives of the YLTLP include college preparation, financial empowerment, enhanced civic participation and the promotion of healthy living. HOPE’s YLTLP will reach 300 high school aged Latinas annually. Twenty-four of those Latinas will participate in a targeted program over a 6 month period (Track 1), while the rest (Track 2) will convene during HOPE’s two largest conferences, HOPE Latina History Day and Latina Action Day Sacramento.
