[highlight]About our Latina of Influence – Martha Preciado M.D. [/highlight]

Dr. Martha Preciado was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was two years old when her family immigrated to the United States. Due to their hard work, she was able to attend an all girls Catholic High School and later graduated from UCLA with a degree in biology.

Accepted by more that 20 medical schools throughout the country, Dr. Preciado chose to stay at UCLA. She completed her internal Medicine residency at UCLA, Sepulveda/VA Hospital.  In 1989 she completed her Cardiology Fellowship at UCLA.

To this day she continues to be on the teaching faculty of UCLA and is currently an Assistance Professor of Medicine.

Dr. Preciado is also in private practice “Preciado Cardiology” and has taught at White Memorial Medical Center’s Residency Program. She has received several awards for teaching and charitable contributions including “Doctor of Distinction Award.

She is a relentless advocate to improve Women’s Cardiovascular Health. Dr. Preciado serves as a “ Go Red Por Tu Corazon Ambassador on behalf of the American Heart Association and a “Go Red Por Tu Corazon” cause sponsor for White Memorial Medical Center.

She has served as a speaker and spokesperson inspiring the community to make healthy lifestyle choices while providing resources and tools.
