Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to recognize the Founder and Director of LCSWorldwide and the Editor-in-Chief LatinasinBusiness.us Ms. Susana G Baumann as a 2017 Latina of Influence. Ms. Baumann along with our entire list of 2017 Latinas of Influence are invited to participate in Hispanic Lifestyle’s 2017 Latina Conference taking place April 5 – 6, 2017 in Ontario, California.

Under the slogan “Disrupt to Unleash the Latina Economic Power,” Susana G Baumann, Founder and Director of LCSWorldwide, and the Editor-in-Chief of her company’s new initiative, LatinasinBusiness.us, has kicked off her plans for 2017.

“We believe the only way to unleash the economic power Latinas deserve is to disrupt certain beliefs, behaviors and even industries. As one of the largest demographics groups impacting the consumer’s market, Latinas not only make money but also spend it! Now we need to find ways to redirect where that money goes in order to bring it home: yes, to expand our economic power and to make it work in our advantage!” Baumann said as she announced her plans for this incoming year.

A multicultural expert, award-winning business writer, public speaker and published author, Susana has worked for over 20 years with government agencies, non-profit organizations and corporations in nine states to increase the Latino market influence through strategic outreach planning and implementation, staff and organizational development, marketing and promotional multicultural campaigns, and language and cross-cultural training.

Among her clients, she has worked with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Spanish Outreach Program, and REFORMA (The National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking). She has also provided training for hundreds of library employees from the Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas and California State Libraries, and other smaller regional library and school systems.

LCSWorldwide has consulted with major pharmaceutical and healthcare corporations, and national non-profit organizations in healthcare, public service and education. Her book, ¡Hola, amigos! A Plan for Latino Outreach was published in 2010 by Connecticut publisher ABC-CLIO Inc.

Writer, editor, and publisher, she has worn almost every hat in the media industry and has managed publishing and production crews. In 2002, Susana launched the first bilingual newspaper in New Jersey, Periódico Latino!, featuring news and stories to promote the achievements of Latinos in the Garden State.

Travelling frequently to Latin America, she has interviewed Latin American and US Hispanic-American top corporate executives and government officers to develop success stories, trends, industry updates, and company profiles for trade magazines such as US Industry Today and Latin Trade.

In 2014, Baumann launched her own initiative, LatinasInBusiness.us, an online platform dedicated to the economic empowerment of the Latina working woman. The platform has received the attention and support of Latina leaders around the country including the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the New America Alliance (NAA), and ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America).

For this initiative, she received the Latina Excellence Award at 2015 LISTA Summit and the TECLA Award for Best Business Blog at Hispanicize 2015, and was invited to become a media member of the NAA American Latina Leadership Caucus.

Previously in 2013, she received the “Journalist of the Year” award from the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey for her service and advocacy to Latino small businesses. She was selected as a Clarion Awards Judge for the Association of Women in Communications in 2009.

She is or has been an active member of several national and regional Latino organizations including the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, the American Association of University Women – Spanish Chapter, the American Translators Association, the American Library Association, REFORMA, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.  She was a Board Member and Chair of the Planning and Programming Committee of the Hispanic Affairs and Resource Center of Monmouth County for several years and the Red Bank Education and Development Initiative, from which organization she received the “Volunteer of the Year Award” in 2004. In 2003, she was also appointed as the first Latino member of the Red Bank Borough Human Relations Committee. She became the first Latino member of the Monmouth County Arts Council Diversity Committee.

Baumann emigrated from Argentina to the United States in 1990. In her country of origin, she was a tenured professor of Architecture and Fine Arts at the National University of Rosario, Argentina. In the United States, she obtained a Master’s of Arts in Liberal Studies, and taking advantage of her polished bilingual language skills, she pursued a career in communications, publishing and marketing.

“Advocating for Latinos in the United States, I specialized in this market early on, when Hispanic was a ‘bad word’ and companies did not fully recognize the economic power of a burgeoning population. Today, although we have made great progress, Latinos and especially Latinas still lag behind in economic and political representation. We will keep working until we achieve the recognition our talent and dedication deserves,” Baumann concluded.
