Event | CHCC announces Annual State Convention

The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC), the premier organization promoting the development of Hispanic entrepreneurs and emerging Latino businesses in California, announced today that it will hold its Annual State Convention in Oakland from Aug. 14 to 16 at the Oakland City Center Marriott.

This year’s convention theme “A Legacy of Leadership: Building America’s Business Future,” will celebrate the history of CHCC leadership, reflect on past accomplishments as well as promote the growth of Latino business in California and its contributions to the overall California economy.

“We are excited to bring the largest gathering of California business leaders to Oakland for our historic 35th year celebration,”
said Ernie Gutierrez, Chairman of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. “We appreciate the warm welcome Oakland city officials have given us, as well as their enthusiasm for promoting Latino businesses.”

“We are honored that the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce has selected Oakland as their destination for the 2013 convention,”
said Oakland Councilmember Noel Gallo. “Oakland is an amazing City with a range of diverse activities from boat rides on the waterfront to hiking amongst the hundreds of acres of beautiful redwood trees in the Oakland Hills.  We have received national recognition for our amazing array of gourmet restaurants and, as recently as this week, Oakland was named as the #1 Most Exciting City in America!  I invite you to explore Oakland – to know it is to love it.”

The convention will bring more than 3,000 entrepreneurs, small business advocates and corporate representatives together.  Session topics will be focused on small business, Latina-owned businesses and the importance of corporate partnerships. An array of renowned speakers and panelists as well as top notch special events and entertainment highlight the convention. A special business expo and Latina Pavilion showcase Latino businesses from throughout the state and will be open to the public.

Mark Martinez, President and CEO of the Chamber, said the conference will recognize the accomplishments of Latino businesses while equipping business owners with the information and networking they need to grow in the coming years.

“Our goal is to provide attendees with useful information and networking opportunities for their businesses,”
said James Duran, Chair of the 2013 Convention. “We also believe it’s important to recognize and celebrate the great contributions Latino businesses are making in this state. We are looking forward to a great event as we celebrate the chamber’s 35th year.”
