The 14th Annual Dia de Los Muertos Festival at Hollywood Forever Cemetery

A cultural celebration like no other, Hollywood Forever promises to not only entertain but to create an unforgettable experience for all to be had at the 14th Annual Dia de Los Muertos Festival at Hollywood Forever Cemetery making it the largest “Day of the Dead” festival in the country.  Gates open at noon on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 at Hollywood Forever Cemetery located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038.San Diego
With a history for bringing top-notch talent to the “Main Stage”, this year is no exception, as Hollywood Forever brings legendary vocalist and former lead singer of the bands Caifanes and Jaguares, Saúl Hernández to headline the festival. Saúl Hernández creates music that reflects the present and is rooted in the most telluric past. Performed live, his music is more than a concert: it is a ritual.
Making her debut appearance this year and showcasing her incredible talent on the “Main Stage” is Ceci Bastida who just released her new track Por La Calle.  Also performing on the “Main Stage” are local Latin-fusion band Buyepongo, psychedelic-soul band Chicano Batman and tropical Afro-Latin group Quitapenas.
In addition to the “Main Stage”, other stages throughout the cemetery will feature a variety of musical and dance performances to keep audiences singing and dancing all day and all night long. Performing on the “Cultural Stage” will be singer-songwriter Rafael Mendoza, Spanish rock band Los Garcia, Mexican folk singer Esteban Leon and a theatrical presentation by Kikiri Kaja with “The Immigrants Theater Group”.  The “El Fandango Stage” will feature musical acts performing in the style of Son Jarocho.
The Dia de Los Muertos Festival at Hollywood Forever Cemetery offers something for everyone.  For those who just like to people-watch, the parade of calaca’s is like a Dia de Los Muertos fashion show and will not disappoint.  Return festival-goers love to get into the spirit of the occasion by painting their faces and dressing up in the most nostalgic and elaborate calaca costumes imaginable.  Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their finest calaca apparel and stop by the costume contest area located near the main entrance for the chance to win $500, courtesy of Nestlé Abuelita and NESCAFÉ Café de Olla.
The fun doesn’t stop there! Attendees are invited to add the #ViveCultura & #AbuelitaPromo hashtags when sharing photos from the event and can drop by the Nestlé Abuelita and NESCAFÉ Café de Olla booth to find out how to receive a free gift.
