We will not know who California’s latest Powerball winner is until at least Monday morning at 8 a.m. That’s the soonest they’ll be able to claim their prize. Whoever the winner turns out to be will now have the option of taking the entire $447.8 million spread out over 30 years, or they can elect to take the lump sum amount of $279.1 million.

While we still don’t know who the winner is, we do know the winning ticket was purchased at Marietta Liquor & Deli, which is located at 27985 Bradley Road in Sun City (Riverside County). This lucky retailer wins as well! It will be receiving a huge $1 million retailer bonus just for selling the winning ticket. (The retailer bonus comes from a separate fund and is not subtracted from the winner’s jackpot prize).

Tonight’s winner is strongly encouraged to sign the back of their ticket in ink, keep it in a safe place where they’ll remember and visit any of the Lottery’s nine district office locations as soon as possible. Tonight’s jackpot winner has one year from the draw date to claim their prize.

Powerball is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and most importantly, earn more money for California public schools!

Powerball is played in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PDT. Ticket sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 22,000 California Lottery retailers or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2015-16, the Lottery created 98 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation.
