BERINGER VINEYARDS JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER

Beringer Vineyards, the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley, joined forces today with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer as the exclusive wine sponsor for the first annual star-studded Estrellas por la Vida (Stars for Life) gala fundraiser taking place on April 6th, 2010 at the Club Nokia at LA Live, 800 West Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.

“We at Beringer are proud to be a part of the inspiring work that St. Jude is doing on behalf of children worldwide. We’re honored to be a part of the first Estrellas por la Vida fundraiser, and contribute to its powerful mission,” said Laurie Hook, Chief Winemaker for Beringer Vineyards.

Beringer’s sponsorship of this worthy event includes the donation of wine for the exclusive VIP cocktail reception and formal dinner, which is being prepared by world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck.

Beringer has also donated a priceless Napa experience to be auctioned off live at Estrellas por la Vida.  Beringer is donating a private tour and tasting at their historic Napa Valley property, founded in 1876, which St. Jude has packaged with a pair of roundtrip tickets to Napa.

In addition, Beringer is contributing two of Napa’s most awarded wines for the silent auction: 2005 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Wine Spectator: 93 Points) and a 2007 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay (Wine Advocate:  92 Points), a combined value of over $150.

Bids from both auctions will benefit St. Jude’s ongoing commitment to pediatric cancer research and other life-threatening diseases affecting children around the world.

Taking place Tuesday, April 6 at Club Nokia @ L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, Esterellas por la Vida will include red carpet celebrity arrivals, VIP reception, seated dinner, silent auction, world-class entertainment and over 300 friends of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In addition to bringing together L.A. Latinos from all industries, the gala will celebrate the collective pride and achievements of Latinos in Hollywood.

“St. Jude is very grateful for the generosity of Beringer Vineyards and its commitment to helping the children at St. Jude who are currently battling against cancer and other terminal diseases,” said Kathleen Talbot, Associate Director for ALSAC/St. Jude Los Angeles region.

Esterellas por la Vida is the inaugural black-tie event for what is sure to become one of Hollywood’s most prestigious annual events encouraging altruistic Latino Hollywood and community leaders to give back to kids who are fighting for their lives.
