Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to recognize Josefa Salinas CEO of  Salinas Media and Communications  as a 2016 Latina of Influence.

Ms. Salinas has not only made an impact in the areas of Entertainment, Community Service, Education and Business, but she continues to set an example for women of all communities to never stop reaching for their goals.

Over the years Josefa been active not only as a business woman, running her own businesses, but also as a philanthropist offering education and guidance to hundreds of young women through the “How To Be A Girl” project.  Her radio experience as one of California’s top on air talents as La “Angelita de la Noche” has provided countless hours of soul satisfying music and talk to listeners on the west coast.

With a dream of one day reaching out to listeners world wide, Josefa began her goal reaching journey of owning her own radio station and now provides a vehicle for not only her voice to be heard internationally, but others who have a voice needing to be heard through her newest venture DSAW Media.

Down the Streat and Around the World (DSAW Media) targets groups in need of additional ways to reach a variety of communities in a fast paced world of communications.  Offering an affordable and professional platform to community-based groups, individuals, small businesses and military families to reach their audience.  In additional DSAW Media provides classic old school music along with today’s hits through it’s online radio station Hot923thebeat.com.

The Los Angeles based radio station has three broadcast studios equipped for live shows, podcasts or recording, A green screen is also available for those wishing to add an online webcast.   Ms. Salinas has brought together a talented staff of people with over 200 years of experience in radio broadcasting, programming, production, writing, marketing and on air talent.  The studio also provides a resource center for students, people without internet access and inexpensive office space for other 501c.3 non profits.

There is more to this woman than meets the eye, her faith and love of God opens the door for her to share her experiences by reaching back to bring forward the talent, business leaders, teachers and philanthropist of the future.

Did you know . . .

Josefa Salinas is the ex-wife of Gangsta’s Paradise rapper Coolio.

She met Coolio in 1987 and the pair dated for nearly a decade before they got hitched.

Josefa had made a name for herself on the California music scene and garnered a following as a media personality.

She delighted listeners in the state for 30 years during her regular presenting gigs on radio station’s KQIE-FM, HOT 92.3 and Power 106.

The mum became known as the “Angel of the Night” after her years of radio broadcasting.

She used her position to shine a light on charitable causes and became a respected advocate for Latinos, women and children.

She was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award winner from former POTUS Barack Obama.

Josefa serves as a Los Angeles Commissioner after being appointed by Mayor Eric Garcetti in 2018.
