Macho Men and The Women Who Love Them

Maria Costa’s Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them (“Macho Men”), a hilariously funny comedy concert DVD, is set for worldwide distribution with Image Entertainment on January 19th, 2010.

Feisty actress/comedienne Maria Costa, called “the female John Leguizamo,” directs and stars in this hilarious one-woman show, which packed in audiences and garnered rave reviews during her cross country tour.  Confessing her struggles in loving a traditional “macho” man, Costa gets big laughs as she transforms herself into an outrageous line-up of comic characters.  From her ultra-macho father to her overly critical mother-in-law, Maria brilliantly captures the diverse rhythms of Latin life with irresistible style.

No doubt Costa has had some notable successes; however it is with Macho Men that she is breaking new ground.  Costa, who also creates, co-writes and co-producers her own content, has plans for her Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them including a nationwide tour and a feature film based on the live show and DVD. She will also be rolling out her new show Macho Men and the Women Who Marry Them in 2010 which will also be shot for DVD and translated for a feature film. “My intention with Macho Men is to honor traditional values in a modern world… through the eyes of a woman who on-goingly is learning to balance her independence and strength with patience and love. I believe many women struggle with this conflict as they navigate through irresistible attractions to strong, sexy and sometimes difficult Alpha Males.”

Winner of the Imagen Award for Best Theatrical Production and the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Maverick Award, Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them also features live hot rhythms by legendary Latin music artists: Giovanni Hidalgo and Francisco Aguabella playing together for the very first time and accompanied by dynamic Salsa dance performances!

Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them is available for pre-order now and will be available for purchase starting January 19th, through the following online retailers: Target.com, Amazon.com, Netflix.com, Frys.com BestBuy.com and FYE.com as well as in-store at Fry’s and Amoeba.
