More from Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival

Mexican actress Olga Segura is a promising new face in the film industry. In her first feature film, White Knight, from director Jesse Baget, she obtained the only female role in the whole movie and shares credits with famous actors Tom Sizemore, Kevin Farley, Stacey Keach and Héctor Jiménez. The film will screen at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival on July 22nd, and will participate in other film festivals in the United States before opening in theaters in the fall of 2011.

White Knight tells the story of Leroy Lowe (Tom Sizemore), a member of the Ku Klux Klan who is sentenced to three years of hard labor in a prison farm. Warden Merville (Stacey Keach), is determined to rehabilitate him, and chooses Emilio (Héctor Jiménez), a Hispanic field worker imprisoned for fighting for labor rights, to be his cellmate.

Leroy, confined to a small cell with the ‘enemy’, finds the chatty Emilio slowly chipping away at his anger and prejudice, and later on finds himself falling in love with Madalena (Olga Segura), a Mexican maid who is hired to clean the warden’s office. An unconventional love story develops that opens Leroy’s eyes to the possibility of a different life. And a man who was born and bred racist finds himself heading down a path to redemption.

This is Olga Segura’s first feature but she has a strong start in the film and theater industry in Mexico, and has now several big projects coming up.

The actress plays one of the starring roles in Hidden Moon from the producers of Selena and directed by Pepe Bojorquez, that features Ana Serradilla and Wes Bentley. She also participated in Goat’s, Christopher Neil’s film starring David Duchovny and Vera Farmiga.

Also, Olga is founder of Producciones a Ciegas, with friend and fellow actor Héctor Jiménez. The production company produced the film Mar Muerto (co-production with Carlos Carrera and Ignacio Ortiz) starring Joaquin Cosio, Aida Lopez and Ana Ofelia Murguía, which will be released in Mexico at the end of 2011; and Todo Un Hombre starring Aarón Díaz, which is in production and will also feature Olga Segura, Joaquín Cosio, Mario Zaragoza and Hector Jimenez.

On television, Olga will star an episode of the new Pedro Torres’ series for Televisa, “Revolucion”, next to Poncho Herrera. The series has 13 episodes and will be released on November 2nd.
