Spotlight | Jose Medina Committee Assignments

Jose Medina (D-Riverside) received several influential committee assignments by Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles). Medina was appointed as the Chair of the Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy. He also serves in the Accountability and Administrative Review Committee as well as the committees on Governmental Organization, and Higher Education.

“I am honored to serve on the committees appointed to me by the Speaker as they align closely with the priorities in my district and my background,” Medina said. “I’m especially proud to chair the Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy Committee and help build stronger communities while serving the people of California. As a former community college trustee, I will fight for our students through the Higher Education Committee.”

Medina has an extensive background helping students attain the skills needed to pursue higher education, working as a high school teacher with the Riverside Unified School District for more than 25 years. A top priority of Assemblymember Medina’s is to promote the newly created UC Riverside School of Medicine, in order to expand and diversify the region’s physician workforce, improve the health of medically underserved populations, and to create jobs for the community.

Assemblymember Medina proudly represents California’s 61st Assembly District, which consists of Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris and Mead Valley.
