Next Steps for Small Business

On April 20, California Small Business Development Centers will present the Next Steps for Small Business event to Orange County small businesses in a no-cost, professional development road show bringing entrepreneurs the latest tips and techniques to maximize their access to capital, practical social media marketing, international sales and selling to the government.

The Irvine event is the second of 10 that will be held throughout the state in 2011 aimed at helping small businesses focus on growth strategies that can help them build their business. A number of high profile speakers from HP, GrowBiz Media, U.S. Small Business Administration, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the U.S. General Services Administration will be featured.  In 2010 California Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provided more than 50,000 small businesses with free consulting and low-cost seminars and conferences throughout the state.

“As our business community leads the way into economic recovery, it is a privilege for the SBDC program to do our share by providing them access to experts in areas that are vital to their continued growth and success,” said Orange County SBDC Director Leila Mozaffari.

The event will be held on April 20 at the Irvine Marriott from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a complimentary lunch and networking opportunities. The program will also offer face-to-face interaction with SBDC business advisers and government and corporate buyers.

“For so many small businesses owners, their life stops at the threshold of their storefront and getting opportunities to grow and improve can be far and few between,” said California SBDC Chair Kristin Johnson. “We are really excited to bring these experts together in one place to dig deep into areas that businesses say they need help.”

Admission to the event is free, self parking is $8, but space is limited and registration is required. To sign up or for more information about the event or to see an itinerary, go to www.californiasbdc.org/nextsteps/Irvine or call (707) 826-3919.
