A Dozen Hispanic Community Action Summits

BUILDING ON THREE-YEARS OF IMPORTANT PROGRESS, WHITE HOUSE CONTINUES TO ENGAGE HISPANIC COMMUNITIES

Obama Administration to Hold More Than a Dozen Hispanic Community Action Summits This Year Beginning in Arizona, Florida, Ohio and Texas

The White House

Continuing to build on a series of meetings held since the Obama Administration came to office, the White House will host more than a dozen summits with Hispanic communities across the country following President Obama’s State of the Union address to Congress. The Administration will hold Hispanic community action summits in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; Tampa, Florida; Elyria, Ohio; and San Antonio, Texas in the coming weeks.

Dozens of senior Administration officials and policy experts will meet with Hispanic leaders and community stakeholders, business owners, educators and state and local officials at each summit, providing an opportunity for participants to address important issues with White House and Cabinet agency officials. Similar regional meetings were held last year in Miami and Orlando, Florida; Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico; Riverside and San Jose, California; Denver, Colorado; New York, New York; and Las Vegas, Nevada following a national conference at the White House.

Summit sessions cover a wide range of topics including jobs and the economy, education, health care, and the need to fix our nation’s broken immigration system.  Each meeting will begin with a morning plenary session followed by an innovative set of open space workgroups where participants collaboratively set the agenda and identify next steps for community action.
